Land
Protection
- Complete acquisition of six parcels of high priority
estuarine land. (Phase I)
- Submit revised grant proposal to develop conservation plan
for Nehalem Watershed.
- Work with Capital Campaign Committee to obtain funds for
acquisitions.
- Attend at least three public agencies meetings to promote
protection, conservation, restoration and sound use of local lands.
- Submit an OWEB North Edge Phase II grant proposal.
Community Outreach and Education
- Conduct two adult workshops and sixteen youth field trips
on local ecology.
- Publish & distribute two newsletters, an annual report
and a Trust brochure.
- Make presentations to at least two local organizations.
- Conduct two community celebrations.
- Host a Fall Harvest Celebration in 2009.
- Co-sponsor a Spring/Earth Day celebration in 2010.
Fundraising
- Diversify Trust funding base and develop organizational
capacity.
- Increase number of contacts, members, donors, and major
donors, and conduct a speaker series as fundraising events.
- Develop and submit grant(s) to fund development staff
time,
services of a consultant, and necessary computer software/hardware.
- Continue presence at special community events: Farmer’s
Market, Nehalem Craft Fair, and Alternative Gift Fair.
- Participate in bequest awareness campaign.
- Continue annual signature event – Living Locally
- Continue Capital Campaign Committee project to raise funds
for acquisition and stewardship of new properties in conjunction with
the Land Protection Committee.
Facilities
- Complete scheduled maintenance and pay utilities for Trust
properties.
- Alder Creek Farm
- Pay utilities & maintain barn and road.
- Implement greenhouse improvements with TPUD grant and
volunteers.
- Vosberg
- Pay utilities
- Repair and maintain roofs on sheds.
- Repair walking bridge over creek in central area of
property

Stewardship and Restoration
- Develop and implement annual stewardship monitoring
protocol
- Continue stewardship and restoration projects.
- Alder Creek Farm
- Continue uplands, riparian and west side restoration
planting, maintenance and invasive plant removal.
- Support wetlands planting and maintenance
- Continue to raise native trees & shrubs for
restoration.
- Review process and re-identify vegetation, bird and
water monitoring sites
- Vosberg Creek
- Assist and monitor implementation of OWEB grant to
remove weir, place LWD, and additional planting with ODFW & LNWC
- Begin data collection of surveys and other sources of
information related to flora and fauna
- Conduct a bird survey
- Begin to clear the pre-existing trail and explore
funding if necessary
- Clean up North Edge Phase I properties
- Complete baseline monitoring and develop management plans
for North Edge Phase I properties.
Coastal Food Ecology Center
- Conduct three garden programs at Alder Creek Farm: the
Community Garden & Orchard, the Permaculture Garden, and the
Children’s Pumpkin Garden.
- Contribute surplus fruit and vegetables from ACF gardens to
the North County Food Bank
- Provide two adult gardening workshops
- Implement two habitat stations for the Nehalem Teaching
Trail, subject to continued grant funding.
- Support the submission of a grant(s) for funding of a
garden manager to oversee a summer garden program for children,
additional adult garden education, and garden/greenhouse improvements.
- Upgrade & repair greenhouse using awarded TPUD grant
funds and volunteer labor.
Trust Administration & Board Development
- Employ staff to assist with Trust administration.
- Provide training for Board, staff, and volunteers.
- Fund administrative expenses.
- Do research and plan to create an endowment fund.
- Add one Board member to reach seven members.
- Complete Land Trust Alliance self-assessment at Board
Retreat.
