Land Protection - What We Do

The Lower Nehalem Community Trust promotes the protection of important wildlife habitat in the Lower Nehalem region.  We are interested in insuring that critical lands are protected for future generations.  There are a wide variety of ways for land to be protected.  The Trust works with landowners to find ways that fit with their interests.

Land Ownership

The map above shows the locations of the land owned by the Trust.  Two of these parcels were donated to the Trust by individuals who wished to see their land protected from development.  The remainder were acquired through State and Federal grants and local community donations

Planning for Land Protection

The Lower Nehalem Community Trust is currently working with The Nature Conservancy, local environmental organizations, state agencies and other community representatives to develop a Conservation Action Plan for the Nehalem watershed.  Information on the project can be obtained by visiting the Nehalem Conservation Action Plan Website.
