Or you can register on site, at Waterfront Park, on the day of the event.
When? Saturday, March 5th, 2022. Orientation Begins: 7:30 am
Cleanup: Starts after Orientation and runs until 12:00 noon, or until you finish your assigned area.
Celebrate: After you finish the cleanup, come back to Waterfront Park for hot chili, and to socialize. (at a safe distance!)
Base: Wheeler Waterfront Park, Wheeler, OR
What we’ll do: During low tide we will work in pre-assigned groups to walk or paddle the high tide line to collect trash. Boats and trucks will then bring it back to the Wheeler Waterfront Park Boat Ramp to be sorted, counted, weighed, and disposed of. We plan to have room for walk-on volunteers and ways that youth can help.
What to bring: Come prepared for a wide range of conditions, from warm and clear to cold and wet. Dress appropriately. Bring drinking water and your own snack for while you are cleaning up the Estuary. Wear waterproof boots, work gloves and layers. Your team leader will also organize safety or first aid equipment.
Partners and friends: Do you want to be more involved? Have a service or materials to donate? Have a boat and are willing to shuttle people and debris? Don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
COVID-19: Be prepared to protect yourself and others from Covid-19. Bring a mask (or two) with you, and wear one whenever you gather in a group of 2 or more. When you go through the food line or interact with other volunteers you will be expected to have your mask on.
