Friday Stewardship Event!

October 22, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

This Friday, October 22, we will be drawing near the end of one of our most challenging but important Stewardship efforts of the year. We have almost finished removing the target blackberry patch. This progress could never have happened without the efforts of so many dedicated volunteers! Come help us as we finish up this effort.

We will continue to eradicate the blackberry patch on the wildlife sanctuary area of Alder Creek Farm, and work to remove those plants that found their way into the wetland rushes. Our work on this one patch has helped us to better understand how these patches evolve, and how best to remove them and limit their return.

We now will plan how to expand our efforts to bring this nasty invasive under control throughout Alder Creek Farm. We are also looking into what native flowers we’ll be able to put in their place, with the hope they will out-compete the invasive grasses and blackberries.

Please meet at Alder Creek Farm at 9:00 a.m. (see map, below)

We encourage you to bring treats to share. We will provide sturdy gloves and tools, but if you have a favorite pair of gloves, please bring them along (especially if they’re nice and thick). If you have chaps, they might help too.

I hope to see you there!

The elk thank you, too!
