8 | Ecoprinting Workshop
Donor: Kyla Sjogren
Explore pigments from the naturalized plant species that surround us. Trust stewardship work parties involve eradicating plants that dominate and create monocultures in the landscape. Employ your curiosity to form a relationship with these steadfast species. For this workshop, LNCT stewardship crews will set aside three monoculture makers: Knotweed, Himalayan Blackberry, and English Ivy.
We will discuss these plants and apply their pigment to textiles in a method called ‘ecoprinting’ which is a natural dyeing technique used to create unique patterns and colors on fabric. At the height of summer, plant pigments are at their color peak. In this 4-hour workshop, we will mindfully make an everlasting memory of season, plant, and place. Walk away with a one-of-a-kind textile you created! Everything provided for you and 5 of your friends. In addition to ecoprinting, we will create dye pots for experimental play. Date and time to be mutually determined. Maximum of 6 people. Expires 6/1/2025.
