About Lower Nehalem Community Trust

About Us

WHAT WE DO

The Lower Nehalem Community Trust is a community supported, nonprofit organization dedicated to the conservation and restoration of natural lands. Help us protect the scenic vistas, sparkling rivers and bays, and dense forests that define the northern coast of Oregon. Together we have an opportunity to shape the landscape for the next millennium.

OUR VISION

We are a community of partners taking action to conserve diverse habitats for the benefit of future generations.

OUR MISSION

To preserve land and nurture conservation values in partnership with an engaged community in the Nehalem region of the Oregon Coast.

OUR VALUES

The Lower Nehalem Community Trust Board, Staff, and Volunteers embrace these values in all that we do:

  • Respect
  • Accountability
  • Integrity
  • Commitment
  • Learning
  • Cooperation

Our work is guided by the following conservation values:

  • Respect for all species
  • Recognition that nature and natural systems sustain all life
  • Responsibility for human impact in nature
  • Living in harmony/balance with nature
  • Understanding the place in which we live
  • Learning as a process
  • Species diversity
  • Clean Water
  • Healthy habitats
  • Resilient ecosystems
  • OUR DIVERSITY, EQUITY, & INCLUSION COMMITMENT

During 2019, The Lower Nehalem Community Trust (LNCT) board of directors, staff and key associates set out to learn about inequities in our community and larger society. We investigated our roles as individuals, as an organization and as a community embedded in the systemic racism and inequality that burdens all our lives. The following document is a statement of our current understandings and of our commitment to address DEI in the work of our organization.
