We’re seeking national accreditation
A COMMENT PERIOD IS NOW OPEN
LNCT is pleased to announce that we have applied for national accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the national Land Trust Alliance. The Commission reviews the practices of land conservation organizations, and recognizes those that meet national quality standards. Those standards address the ethical and technical operation of land trusts as they protect important natural places, forever. Periodic renewals of accreditation ensure that accredited Trusts maintain those high standards.
“This is an important process. It enables us to demonstrate to our partners and funders that our processes are thoughtful and professional as we protect lands in the Lower Nehalem watershed for the benefit of our streams, wildlife, and neighbors. This process will demonstrate to the Commission that our practices meet the standards necessary for national accreditation.” says Executive Director Ben Pittenger.
A comment period is now open as part of the application process. The Commission invites public input on LNCT’s pending application, through signed, written comments. Comments must relate to the Lower Nehalem Community Trust’s compliance with national quality standards, which can be viewed at http://www.landtrustaccreditation.org/help-and-resources/indicator-practices. Comments will be most useful to the Commission’s review if submitted by July 21, 2023.
