December King Tides Meet-up with CoastWatch’s Jesse Jones

December 19, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Botts Marsh

Experiencing winter’s King Tides from a safe vantage point can be an awesome experience in itself, but it can also be part of a larger citizen science effort (now in it’s 13th year!) that is contributing to our understanding of sea level rise and how we plan for and mitigate the effects of climate change on our coastal communities. Want to know what is being observed in our Manzanita/Nehalem/Wheeler region? CoastWatch’s Jesse Jones will be here to talk about what King Tides are teaching us about our area’s future and we will discuss how you can contribute to these efforts through documenting king tides on our LNCT properties.

The second round of this winter’s King Tides takes place Dec. 22-24. Through the King Tides Project, volunteer photographers document the reach of the winter’s highest tides. High tide on Dec. 22 will come at about 11:00 a.m., depending on your specific location; high tide on the other days will be progressively later.

Join us to meet other volunteers and learn about how you can get involved. Beverages and snacks provided.

R.S.V.P here to let us know you’re coming. You can also join by Zoom (register to receive zoom link prior to event).
