Friday Stewardship Event!

September 3, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

This Friday Stewardship Event will continue one of the most important Stewardship efforts of the year. We will pursue our experiment on how best to best attack a blackberry patch on the wildlife sanctuary area of Alder Creek Farm. We are focusing on one patch, to better understand how these patches evolve, and how best to limit their spread and then remove them, so we can begin to bring this problematic invasive under control.

You will not be required to fight your way into a blackberry thicket! (unless you want to) This week we will focus on limiting the spread of the patch by working around the periphery to remove the long outstretched canes so that they don’t take root. This will also help us get easier access to the main stems, to dig them out by the roots.

Please meet at Alder Creek Farm at 9:00 a.m. (see map, below)

We encourage you to bring treats to share. We will provide sturdy gloves and tools, but if you have a favorite pair of gloves, please bring them along (especially if they’re nice and thick). If you have chaps, they might help too.

SEE YOU THERE!
